Joy York has invested her life in training ministry from the time she and her husband, John, first arrived in Nigeria in 1974 to her retirement in 2022. The Yorks not only served together in Bible schools in Nigeria, Malawi, and Togo; God also expanded their ministry to the entire African continent through their work with Eleventh Hour Institutes and the founding of Africa Theological Training Services—the ministry now known as Africa’s Hope. The last ministry project that John and Joy undertook together was the establishment of Pan-Africa Theological Seminary, and Joy served as the seminary’s Program Administrator from its inception in 2005 to her retirement. Joy’s legacy continues on in the lives and ministries of the many African leaders whom she has served.
